Dev Health Hack #5: Why Massage is a Game-Changer for Coders
Hi fellow devs, coders, and wonderful humans 👋
Back at it with another small but powerful dev health hack. Today it’s about something I love: massage. Not everyone is a fan, but hear me out—this one can seriously save your back (and neck, arms, and wrists).
If you are still using the beta version of the app, I recommend using the released version available on the App Store.

Why Massage Helps If You Work Behind a Screen
Sitting for hours, typing away, often means building up tension in the wrong places. A massage now and then can:
⚠️ Prevent pain in your back, neck, shoulders, and wrists
⚠️ Reduce tension and stiffness
⚠️ Boost circulation (which is often low when you sit a lot)
⚠️ Help posture by relaxing the tight muscles, pulling you out of alignment
⚠️ Lower stress and improved sleep, which means better focus and less burnout
Even if you’re not into full-body massage, just focusing on your back, neck, arms, and hands can already do wonders.
How often should you go?
I try to go every three months. But even every six months is better than nothing. It helps me stay ahead of the aches instead of reacting to them later.
Find someone good
I go to a massage salon around the corner that came recommended. Just check with friends or local reviews—you want someone who understands desk work.
Bonus tip 💡
Using the Standing Coder app? It’s free! It will help you get reminders to stand and move more during your coding sessions. However, be assured that all data remains on your device 🔒. (I build the app myself)
Until next time 👋
